The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team at Canopy. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accountant will play a key role in supporting various accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

This is a hybrid position in South Jordan, Utah (M, W, F in-office).

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Book accruals for expenses, revenue, payroll liabilities, and receivables researching discrepancies.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and bank accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Manage fixed asset and prepaid schedules.
  • Conduct regular reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the audit process and provide support to external auditors during annual audits.
  • Maintain documentation of accounting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.

What We Are Looking For:

  • 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Excel Skills.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience in the SaaS industry.
  • Experience using Quickbooks, Zuora, Bill.com, Salesforce.
  • Experience with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable or General ledger.

Interviewing @ Canopy:

We know application processes can be a little stressful. Here’s are the stages of a typical interview process:

  • Once your application is received, we will review it and get back to you if we feel like it’s a mutual fit!
  • 20 minute phone call with the People Team
  • 45-60 minute video or in-person interview with the Hiring Manager
  • 1-3 rounds of interviews depending on the role
  • Final Interview

Interview processes can vary depending on the role. The People Team will give you a role specific overview of the process during your first phone call.
